UCLA SBIRT Training:

What: Screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment (SBIRT) are effective in a variety of settings. Its effectiveness has been proven particularly effective in hospital emergency departments and trauma centers with individuals with alcohol-related injuries. SBIRT has also been shown to be effective in primary care settings, where it is incorporated into other routine medical assessments such as measuring blood pressure. This training focuses on screening procedures to identify risk; key motivational interviewing concepts and principles that are tied to effective use of the FLO (Feedback; Listen and Understand; Options Explored) brief intervention; and referral to treatment for patients with more serious substance use-related problems.

Who: This 4-hour training is open to providers who are interested in learning more about SBIRT, including:

  • Psychologists
  • LMFTs and LCSWs
  • Registered Nurses
  • Certified Substance Use Disorder Treatment Counselors
  • Other Behavioral Health Specialists/Clinician

UCLA ISAP is approved to sponsor continuing education for Psychologists, LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs, RADTs I/II, CADCs-CASs, CADCs I/II, CADCs-CSs, and LAADCs (CCAPP, #2N-00-445-1121), CATCs (ACCBC/CAADE, #CP40 872 C 0822), and CAODCs (CADTP, #151. 4 CE credits will be awarded at the conclusion of the training.

When: Tuesday, February 25, 2020, 9:00 am– 1:15 pm. Sign-in will begin at 8:30 am and the training will begin promptly at 9:00 am.

Behavior will be our topic for February!

January 13th:  Curtis McMullan, MFT from Nevada County Children’s Behavior Health is coming to meet and talk with parents and also share what services are available.

January 6th and 20th: parent group with therapist Perla Dittman to discuss solutions to problems or questions about behaviors.

January 27th: join us for our family night in child development we will be making behavior charts together and playing games.

Groups are held on Thursday evenings in the Child Development Department at Granite Wellness Center (180 Sierra College Drive, Grass Valley). It is completely free with child care provided for parents that are in recovery. We offer a family dinner at 5:30pm, followed by group at 6-7pm. Download the flyer here.
