Night of Giving Benefit for Hospitality House Now Includes Free Shuttle Service
Here’s the full press release: HH-Press Release Free Shuttle for Night of Giving. Here are some excerpts…
Night of Giving returns to Miners Foundry on Dec. 22 and for the first time, the event includes complimentary shuttle service from the Rood Center, located at 950 Maidu Avenue in Nevada City. Parking at the Rood Center is also free and the shuttle service will provide transportation between the Rood Center and Minters Foundry continuously from 4 to 11 p.m.
Mikail Graham, Hospitality House board member and host of Night of Giving said, “We understand parking is limited in downtown Nevada City, so we are simplifying parking for attendees. Our free shuttle service will give more people an opportunity to come out and show their support.”
Night of Giving is annual musical concert benefiting Hospitality House, the only emergency homeless shelter in Nevada County. In additional to music, attendees will have an opportunity to enjoy a $5 buffet dinner, prepared by students and graduates of the Hospitality House Serves culinary job-readiness training program; enjoy a no-host bar; participate in a silent auction and raffle; and hear from persons they are there to benefit—the homeless.
The suggested donation for tickets is $20, but no one will be turned away. Children ages 12 and younger are free. Every donation given at the event, beyond the ticket purchase, will be tripled by anonymous donors. Performances will also be live-streamed on Facebook throughout the evening.
Tickets are available at Bread & Roses Thrift, BriarPatch Community Co-Op, hhshelter.org, and at the door. Generous sponsors include Coldwell Banker Grass Roots, YubaNet, BriarPatch, SPD Markets, PE Consulting Associates, InterWest Insurance Services agent Chip Arenchild, KVMR, Nevada County Association of Realtors, The Union, Sweetland Garden Supply, Port O Subs, Chapa-De Indian Health, Whitewater Naturopathic and Caliber Collision.

County of Nevada Names Hospitality House as Their No Place Like Home Partner
Here’s the full press release: Hospitality House named County’s No Place Like Home Partner. Here are some excerpts…
On December 11th the Nevada County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to make Hospitality House their No Place Like Home partner. No Place Like Home is slated to dedicate up to $2 billion in bond proceeds over the years to invest in the development of permanent supportive housing for people who need mental health services and who are experiencing homelessness, or who are at-risk for chronic homelessness.
To be selected as the No Place Like Home partner, Hospitality House responded to the County’s request for proposal earlier in the year. With knowledge that a parcel of land for building housing was a requirement to be considered for the No Place Like Home funding, Hospitality House Board Chairman, Leo Granucci, took the initiative to acquire the land, with the intent to sell it to the County for the construction of permanent support housing.
In the weeks to come, further details of this partnership will be formalized as the County works toward the No Place Like Home deadline on January 30.
Public opinion regarding homelessness and affordable housing is being sought by Hospitality House to better serve the community. The survey takes one minute to complete and is available at hhshelter.org.
