In 2016, approximately 48.5 million Americans reported use of illicit drugs or misused Rx drugs[1], and “from 1999 to 2016 more than 200,000 people died in the United States from overdoses related to prescription opioids[2]”. Given the possible impacts that opioids and other drug abuse might have on families, the Sierra–Sacramento Innovative Partnership created the Sierra – Sacramento Opioid Resource Tool Kit in order to share our research with agencies, communities and the families who live in them.
Within the Resource Tool Kit, you will find helpful articles and materials that you can use to educate others about the opioid epidemic. You will also find data portals used to research local community data as well as other important links to assist with evaluation of the topic.
The Resource Tool Kit is a living document that will continue to be updated with new information and resources as they are discovered. Our hope is that these resources are supportive of your efforts to understand and combat the opioid epidemic.
