Over 15,000 people in Nevada County need help
Who are these people? They are families, senior citizens, veterans, the working poor and the disabled. Without Interfaith Food Ministry and other supportive agencies, they would not know where their next meal is coming from.
September is Hunger Action Month, where we focus on our neighbors in need.
But what can I do?
PLENTY! And it’s so easy to help.
1. Start your own fundraiser – If you’re having a dinner party or game night, add a fundraising element. Ask guests to bring a canned food item or make a contribution.
2. Start a fundraiser for IFM on Facebook to support Hunger Action Month.
3. Become a volunteer at IFM. You can commit to a day a month or whatever works for your schedule. Recruit a buddy and increase the fun! Here is the list of volunteer positions at IFM.
We are now doing Saturday distributions and are looking for volunteers from 8 am -1 pm.
4. Get the whole family involved! Partner with your children’s sports program to hold a food drive at one of the games. IFM has food barrels you can use for the food drive.
5. Go orange for the month of September. Put on your favorite orange shirt or pants and help us spread the word that hunger is real in Nevada County! Take a picture and send to IFM and we’ll post it on Facebook.
“So many times, I meant to say …. THANK YOU! Your kindness, your time and efforts, your love and understanding fills my kitchen with warmth and goodness. Please know that your work touches us within the heart and the soul. You make me a better person. Bless you!” – IFM Client
