Report from November 7, 2018 CSN Meeting ~ Trauma-Informed Parenting

Many thanks to the wonderful speakers who presented at our November 7th meeting, Trauma-Informed Parenting

Our presenters from Nevada County Child Welfare (new umbrella name that includes both Child Protective Services and Adoptions since the County received its adoption license) were Karen Martin, Ongoing Social Worker; Cara Carvalho, Resource Family Home Social Worker; and Cheryl Gonzales, Adoption/Post Adoption Social Worker. We very much appreciate their time and expertise.

For our Building the Network Moment agenda item, Chris Espedal, Safety and School Climate Coordinator for the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools Office (NCSOS) shared information about “Handle with Care.” The program is designed for first responders to alert school staff about a student who may have suffered a trauma. Chris sharee the concept of the program and how it came to Nevada County.

Thanks to Lourdes Vose for facilitating and to all who attended.

The meeting minutes will be posted on our Meetings page in the days to come.

Next meeting: Remember that CSN Partner meetings go on hiatus for December. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, January 2, 2019 ~ 3:30-5 pm. Gene Albaugh Community Room at the Madelyn Helling Library, 980 Helling Way, Nevada City, CA 95959
