         Injury data sources: This October 24th webinar at 1:00 pm is focused on where local injury prevention coalitions and safety groups can find and utilize unintentional injury data (e.g. death, hospitalization and emergency room) using state, national and local sources.

         Safe sleep and sleep suffocation prevention: This November 6th webinar at 11:00 am explores best practice components of a successful local safe sleep and sleep suffocation prevention program. The webinar explores national safe sleep program recommendations, and two successful local CA coalition safe sleep and sleep suffocation prevention programs. The webinar provides local program information about who needs to be involved, how the program is structured, who is doing what, what population or community members are involved in the program, how to set a baseline of sleep suffocation injury data for your communities and how to evaluate the effectiveness of your local program and strategies.

         Local coalition evaluation: This November 19th 12:00 noon webinar explores coalition outcome measurements regarding the health of a coalition, how to use coalition outcome measurements to better understand how well various components of your local coalition is doing, and provides information to help in strategic planning, updating and making corrective changes in your coalition. We will also explore what injury data is best used for evaluating the impact that your unintentional injury prevention local actions are having on the lives of the children and families in your communities.

         Safety seat and CPS programs: This November 26th webinar at 10:00 am explores the state and national framework for Safety Seat and CPS activities, including CPS training and retention. The webinar also explores the details of two successful on the ground local coalition safety seat coalition programs here in California. The presenters are national, state and local coalition experts on safety seats.

         Setting your local coalition’s evaluation baseline data: This December webinar – date TBA – goes into why baseline is so important, what baseline data is, what data to use and not use for your baseline data in your coalition’s evaluation plan, common mistakes to avoid, and where to get baseline data for your communities childhood injury data and coalition data pertaining to the health of your local coalition.

         Bicycle safety and helmet best practices: This December webinar – date TBA – explores bicycle safety courses, course partners, and course resources. This webinar will also update coalitions about the new bicycle helmet enforcement law (AB 3077) signed by the Governor in September 2018, and how this change in law enforcement approach to the bicycle/scooter/skateboard helmet law will change the partnership opportunities with law enforcement, schools and local children’s safety programs. AB 3077 makes California’s bicycle helmet law into a fix-it-ticket rather than only a $197 fine citation.
