Income Tax Filing Assistance for Qualifying Residents
The Nevada County Health and Human Service Department is operating a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site offering free tax preparation
assistance and filing of simple returns. If you earned less than $58,000 or are disabled, contact Nevada County VITA tax line for assistance with your return. The returns processing has already started and will continue to the close of business on Tax Day, April 18, 2022.
Tax credits help working families, and their communities thrive, and unfortunately, many taxpayers leave them unclaimed annually. This outreach event aims to bring awareness to the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), a fully refundable credit based on earned income. The amount of your income, or combined income if married, and whether you have qualifying children all play a role in determining the amount of the credit to which you may qualify.
