Sheriff’s Founding Mobile Crisis Pilot Team Members Honored
Sierra Mental Wellness Group and Nevada County Behavioral Health presented two original co-responder pilot program team members a plaque in appreciation of their outstanding service in starting a Mobile Crisis Teams program. Nevada County Deputy Sheriff Galen Spittler and Mental Health Clinician Ernesto Alvarado were honored August 29 at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley.
Wildfire Restoration Funding Secured for Jones Bar and Lobo Fire Footprint
The Wildlife Conservation Board (WCB), awarded a $2.4 million grant to Sierra Streams Institute and the Nevada County Office of Emergency Services to promote forest health and wildfire resilience at the sites of the 2017 Lobo Fire and 2020 Jones Fire.
The project is focused on 625 acres, including 300 private parcels, 85 landowners, Nevada City School of the Arts, the Woolman School and Shady Creek Outdoor School.
