Summer is going to be bright and beautiful this year with Nevada County Library’s Summer Learning Program. This year’s theme is Color Our World!
Summer Learning kicks off with a party, including live music, sno-cones, facepainting, and a puppet show, 1-3 p.m., Saturday, June 14 at Madelyn Helling Library. All free to the community! While you’re there, find out more about the Summer Learning Challenge.
This summer, young patrons (pre-readers, independent readers, and teens) are invited to read and complete fun summertime activities. Participants will receive a free book for joining the fun, and those who complete the challenge will receive a “Color Our World” t-shirt (while supplies last), a special prize from the prize box, a voucher for two fair ride tickets at the Nevada County fair, and a raffle ticket to enter a drawing for a $50 gift card to a local business. Participate by filling out a “Color Our World” activity sheet available at a Nevada County Library branch near you, or online at Beanstack.
Check the library calendar for the many activities the library will host this summer—wild animals, a dance party, a clothing swap, movie afternoons, arts and crafts, and so much more. In addition, Grass Valley and Madelyn Helling libraries will offer free lunch at noon, Monday through Friday, for ages 0-18.
The Summer Learning finale will be a Tie-dye party, including Lazy Dog ice cream, 1-3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 2 at Grass Valley Library. All free to the community!
The last day to complete the challenge is Friday, Aug. 8. See you at the library!
