Job Openings at Nevada County: Public Information Officer-Temporary
Nevada County employs approximately 800 employees covering a full range of services and positions, from accountants to wastewater treatment system operators. We are seeking a temporary Public Information Officer (PIO) with expertise in public relations, media relations, and community engagement. This position will work full-time in the office (40 hours per week with occasional nights and weekends) for approximately 6 months and will be offered medical coverage.
Do you enjoy educating the public about programs and projects in easy-to-understand language? Are you comfortable engaging face-to-face with the community? Have you worked with local media to answer tough questions under deadline or during an emergency? If so, the communications and outreach team would like to learn more about how you could demonstrate those skills in the temporary PIO position.
The PIO reports to the County’s Assistant County Executive Officer and will help manage the public information and community relations program. A successful PIO requires a high degree of proficiency, initiative, independent judgment, and decision-making skills.
Our goal is transparent and ongoing communication with the community through media relations, social media, websites, and newsletters. We strive to develop sound and innovative public policy and deliver excellent services. As a part of the County Executive Office, you would be a crucial part of a leadership team working closely with County executives, elected officials, and community stakeholders.
