Under administrative direction from the First 5 Nevada County Commission, the Executive Director is responsible for providing a full range of management-level support for the Commission as the chief operating officer of the agency. This includes, but is not limited to, providing contract development, implementation and administration; program review and basic evaluation; program and Commission budget development and monitoring; leading development of the strategic plan; and conducting policy, systems and/or environmental change work. Duties may include supervising and assisting Sheriff’s Deputies and other personnel in carrying out assigned departmental functions; and performs related work as required. This full supervisory level classification is responsible for the supervision of Sheriff’s deputies, investigation of crime scenes and other duties. Incumbents in this classification may be assigned to patrol, investigation, jail personnel and training or court services. This class is distinguished from the class of Sheriff’s Deputy by the supervisory responsibilities, complexity of assignments and the level of expertise required to perform the duties.
