Sierra-Sacramento Opioid Toolkit

Welcome to Innovative Partnership Opioid Toolkit. Please use the navigation bar to the left to explore the areas of the toolkit or click the links below.

In 2016, approximately 48.5 million Americans reported use of illicit drugs or misused Rx drugs[1], and “from 1999 to 2016 more than 200,000 people died in the United States from overdoses related to prescription opioids[2]”. Given the possible impacts that opioids and other drug abuse might have on families, the Sierra–Sacramento Innovative Partnership created the Sierra – Sacramento Opioid Resource Tool Kit in order to share our research with agencies, communities and the families who live in them.

Within the Resource Tool Kit, you will find helpful articles and materials that you can use to educate others about the opioid epidemic. You will also find data portals used to research local community data as well as other important links to assist with evaluation of the topic.

The Resource Tool Kit is a living document that will continue to be updated with new information and resources as they are discovered. Our hope is that these resources are supportive of your efforts to understand and combat the opioid epidemic.

And a Revised Economic Environment Section
Low unemployment, increased inflation and softening demand in some sectors of the economy are creating uncertain conditions for nonprofit managers as they make decisions about employee compensation and benefits policies. Here’s how your organization will benefit from the “the best survey of its kind:”

  • Current, local compensation data on more than 200 jobs found in nonprofit organizations throughout Northern California
  • Base pay levels and bonus/incentive pay for each job with details by annual operating budget, location within Northern California, number of employees and primary field of service
  • Employee benefits in detail: paid time off, insurance, retirement
  • Salary increases over past year and expected during the next year
  • Policies with respect to on-call work, overtime, shift differentials, pay for bilingual skills, introductory periods, performance reviews, DEI practices and more

The survey will also help your organization find out how the local nonprofit community is coping with current economic conditions. Here are some questions the survey can help nonprofit managers answer:

  • For what kinds of jobs are nonprofits having difficulty hiring and retaining employees?
  • Are nonprofit employees working remotely, in person, or a combination of both?
  • Are organizations planning to increase or decrease their workforces in 2023?

The survey provides a wealth of information to help nonprofits compete effectively on this ever-changing playing field. This past year, 728 nonprofit organizations reporting on more than 36,000 jobs participated in the 2022 survey, making it the largest and most robust in the survey’s 44-year history.  For more information, visit www.nonprofitcomp.com or email at survey@nonprofitcomp.com.

Funding Opportunity: Mental Health Services Act

The Mental Health Services Act (MHSA)-Prop 63 was passed by California Voters in 2004. The proposition is funded by a 1% tax on personal income over $1 million per year with the goal of utilizing the funds to expand and transform California’s behavioral health system to better serve individuals with and at risk of serious mental health issues and their families.

Nevada County Behavioral Health is developing the 3-year plan for MHSA programming for Fiscal Year 23/24 through Fiscal Year 25/26. As part of the planning process, counties are called to engage in a competitive Request for Information (RFI) process for MHSA providers.

Three separate RFIs have been released to correspond with the three primary programming categories of MHSA services. The RFIs include:

  1. Community Service and Supports (CSS) Programming
  2. Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) Programming in Western Nevada County
  3. Tahoe/Truckee Prevention and Early Intervention Programming- Jointly released with Placer County

A virtual Pre-Bidder’s Conference is scheduled for January 9th at 1:00 p.m.
