National Children’s Dental Health Month

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month.  In honor of this, and with your help, Nevada County Public Health would like to reward kids for brushing their teeth.

Dental caries is the number one chronic disease in children, and the leading cause of school absences.  The COVID 19 Pandemic has contributed to challenges for children’s dental health, including the interruption of regular dental visits.

As a way to remind children about the importance of dental health, we are asking our school libraries to participate in an easy and fun outreach.

  1. Students who visit the library can take a daily brushing calendar packet, and kids dental flossers home.
  2. If they return the pledge and brushing calendar completed, they will receive a fun 12 oz color changing BPA cup.
  3. Each library will also receive one Oral B Electric Toothbrush to be given as a drawing prize.

Nevada County will provide the calendar packets, prize cups, and electric toothbrush.

Our goal is to ensure this is a fun and safe way to encourage children about their oral health care.  Please reply to this email to confirm that we can bring these fun items to your library within the coming weeks.

Thank you for all you do for our community.
