Featured Newsletter: Granite Wellness Centers

Since 1974 Granite Wellness has been saving and improving lives through substance abuse treatment and mental health services. Serving Northern California communities throughout Placer and Nevada Counties, GWC  now provides a full range of programs, all focused on the family system. To showcase this work, GWC has launched a monthly newsletter, Together Saving Lives.

Feature Story: Program Spotlight

Granite Wellness Centers’ Youth Resiliency Project is serving rural young people either with opioid use disorder or at significant risk for developing opioid use disorder in Nevada and Placer Counties. This project delivers a continuum of care for young people ages 12-24 and their families through innovative outreach efforts, school and family education, screenings and evidenced based interventions, outpatient and medication assisted treatment (MAT), as well as family services to reduce opioid use and overdose risk.

Our outreach team successfully held the first Drive-Thru Self-Care kit giveaway for youth and families in the Placer County area. Plans are underway to host additional drive-thru self-care kit giveaways in Nevada County.
Looking to reduce barriers to receiving Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) services, the outreach team developed a series of posters (in English and Spanish). The posters include positive and supportive youth prevention messaging and promote the new warm line number that individuals can CALL or Text to be connected with Youth Drop in Clinic Specialists. There, they can receive free and confidential substance use and mental health counseling and other support services. [Note: posters are available for download from the newsletter; see link below.]
