This year’s panel will feature Dr. Charlene Hauser and Rachel Hudson, the Community Outreach Director for and a Co- Founder of Sacramento’s Gender Health Center, Rev. Rafe Ellis and Debra Ellis. The panelists are looking for questions from the community both prior to and during the event. During the event we will also be taking questions anonymously that may come up before, during, and after the film.  Rev. Rafe Ellis, Senior Minister serving the Sierra Center for Spiritual Living, will be leading a memorial ceremony for Transgender people who lost their lives to violence this past year.

The Transgender Day of Remembrance was founded in 1998 by Gwendolyn Ann Smith, a trans-woman who is a graphic designer, columnist, and activist to memorialize the murder of Rita Hester in Allston, Massachusetts. Since its inception, TDoR has been held annually on November 20th and has slowly evolved from the web-based project started by Smith into an international day of action. In 2010, TDoR was observed in over 185 cities throughout more than 20 countries.
