Rx Take Back Day

This Saturday, October 26, 2019 is National Rx Take Back Day! There are 3 locations in Nevada County to drop off your unused or expired medications, and for the first time, the DEA will now accept vaping devices and cartridges at any of its drop off locations during National Rx Take Back Day!

Help us keep unused medications out of the hands of our youth and out of our water supply by dropping off your unneeded or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications for safe disposal at any of the following locations:

Grass Valley

  • 10am – 2pm
  • Corner of Neal St. and South Auburn St in downtown Grass Valley

Penn Valley

  • 10am – 2pm
  • Penn Valley Shopping Center, corner of Penn Valley Dr. and Spenceville Rd.

Nevada City

  • 10am – 2pm
  • Rood Center, 950 Maidu Ave

Truckee

  • 9am – 1pm
  • Gateway Shopping Center, 11290 Donner Pass Rd

How it works: This event is free, anonymous and convenient, and any unused or expired over-the-counter or prescription medications will be accepted. Empty pills into a zip-lock bag or black out personal information on bottles. Liquids are acceptable; please keep in original container with the lid on tight and place in a separate plastic bag to insure no leaking.

Please do not bring: sharps, medical waste, aerosols or hydrogen peroxide, illicit drugs.
