The Nevada County Adult & Family Services Commission will convene two Community Forums to accept input on the needs of the impoverished in Nevada County. Interested Nevada County residents, including representatives of community organizations and service providers, are invited to participate and share their views regarding the needs of very low-income populations of all ages. The information gathered at the Forums will contribute to the needs assessment process required as a part of the 2020/21 Community Action Plan (CAP). The CAP is part of the application process for ongoing Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funding for supportive service programs.

Comments may be directed to the broad issues of poverty, unemployment, educational attainment, health, nutrition, housing, homelessness, crime rates, transportation, incidents of delinquency, obstacles and problems that block the achievement of self-sufficiency (family and individual), and economic opportunity. More generally, the County would like to hear ideas about services or programs that assist low-income populations in achieving self-sufficiency. Supporting data is encouraged.

Those who wish to speak at a Forum will be allowed 5 minutes to make his/her presentation. A sign-up sheet for speakers will be provided at the door. The County of Nevada, and the Adult & Family Services Commission, has requested that all who testify also provide written testimony at the meeting.

If you are unable to attend this meeting and would like to share your input in written form, please contact Suzi Kochems at 530-228-7811 or via email at suzi@silkconsultinggroup.com and she will provide you a paper version of the needs assessment, otherwise, the links are below.
